The transition to young adulthood is fundamentally challenging. Teenagers of today are experiencing record high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression with the pressure of the times. It’s natural for this age group to resist guidance from their primary caregivers, and thus the support from a therapist or coach can be of great provision on their journey.
Having been in therapy myself as a teenager, I have experienced first-hand the transformative change that guidance can provide. Inspired by my own lived experience, young adults became the focus of the first half of my career. I counseled foster youth, young adults aging out of foster care, and became the personal mentor for at-risk teens. I additionally coached several rounds of Extreme Teen Leaders, an incredible teen self-development program, under the guidance of one of my mentors, Tamrah Barber.
I have always revered teenage years as a potent time in a person’s life to instill lasting values around self-esteem, healthy relationships, emotional intelligence, and purpose. Cultivating these qualities in young adults is a powerful way to set them up for a fulfilling and enriched life as adults. I would be honored to support your loved one on their journey to becoming the best version of themselves.
